POCATELLO, Idaho - Senior
Lori Mendenhall-Lee led the Bengals with a double-double 41 assists and 10 digs in Idaho State volleyball's sweep of Eastern Washington. The Bengals topped the Eagles 25-19, 25-18 and 25-19.
"By and large, we are a fairly balanced team. We can go to both sides and the middle," said Head Coach
Chad Teichert. "Its a pretty good situation to have."
Tressa Lyman and
Makenzie Filer led the Bengals in kills, both posting in the double-figures. Lyman had 12 kills on 22 attempts with one error for a .500 attack percentage. Filer had 11 kills on 19 attempts with two errors for a .474 attack percentage.
Mendenhall-Lee also led the Bengals in service aces with three on the night and posted three blocks.
"Its fabulous [to have Mendenhall-Lee on the floor]," said Teichert. "They don't come along every day. She is quick, deceptively quick and makes so many hustle plays. That elevates our team and demoralize the other team. There are more ways we'll miss her than just her setting, believe me."
Kylee Sessions led the Bengals in digs with 13,
Hayley Farrer had 12 and
Alydia Fields-Grimm posted 11.
The Bengals posted a .274 attack percentage compared to Eastern Washington's .128.
"I think we're playing pretty well," said Teichert. "We played tough down the stretch. Hopefully we can keep that up on Saturday and take care of Portland State."
Idaho State wraps up the regular season at home on Saturday against No. 1 Portland State. Prior to the game, Idaho State honors its lone senior,
Lori Mendenhall-Lee.
