Portland, Ore. – The Idaho State Bengal volleyball team lost both regular-season meetings to North Dakota, including the match at Reed Gym. The match that counted the most however was the one the in the semifinals of the Big Sky Championship and Idaho State played like a team that didn't know they were underdogs, beating UND, the Big Sky Conference Co-Champions, 3-1 (25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 25-12).

The victory was the 100th career win for Head Coach Chad Teichert. Teichert, in his sixth season, is the first coach in Idaho State history to surpass the century mark.

The Bengals won a back-and-forth first set 25-20 when they closed it out with a 6-0 run, which included three service aces by Makenzie Filer.

In the second set, the Bengals fell behind 17-8 before coming from behind to win 26-24.

The third set went the other way for the Bengals as North Dakota came back from a 23-20 deficit to win 25-23.

The fourth set may have been the best set for Idaho State all season. The Bengals had 16 kills and no hitting errors for an amazing .571 hitting percentage in a dominant 25-12 win.

"I don't really know what to say except wow,"  Teichert said about the fourth set. "It was really a great effort by the whole team. It is rare when you don't have a single hitting error in an entire set."

Filer led the way with 13 kills, five digs, three aces and four blocks. Three other Bengalswere in double-digit blocks. Alydia Fields-Grimm had 13 kills and Marissa Todd had 11. Tressa Lyman scored a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs.

All-conference middle hitter Ronni Munkeby led North Dakota with 19 kills. Anna Poiske had 11 kills and Lexi Robinson had 10 for UND.

The Bengals had six aces to just one for North Dakota.

The win is the second of the day for the Bengals who defeated Northern Colorado 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Championship earlier today.
