POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State women's tennis opened Big Sky Conference play at home, Friday, against Eastern Washington. The Bengals played a hard match but ultimately fell to the Eagles 5-2.
The two ISU points came from freshmen
Kasey Bacon and Wiebke Boelkmann singles victories. Bacon defeated Chelsea Patton in the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-3. Boelkmann overcame Alexis Filliol in the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 7-6.
Freshman
Laura Theus played a hard match against Ryann Warner in the No. 5 position but ultimately fell in the tie break match.
Playing in the No. 1 position for the first time this season, sophomore
Marian Tangarife fell to Moira Hedberg, 6-2, 6-2.
Freshmen
Madelyn Weltzin and
Svenja Tegtmeier battled in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. Weltzin was overcome by Chrissy Uriarte, 7-5, 6-4 and Tegtmeier fell to Kelsey Knight, 7-5, 6-2.
