POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team returns to ICCU Court at Holt Arena for a home game vs. Southern Utah on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. The game will be heard live on 930 KSEI and 102.5 KMGI with
Jerry Miller and
Brad Bugger calling the action. The game can also be followed at isubengals.com with live stats, audio and video.
Southern Utah leads the overall series 12-7 with the Bengals winning the most recent meeting, 54-53 in Cedar City on January 12. Four of the last five meetings between Idaho State and SUU have been decided by three points or less. ISU won by one point this year at SUU. In 2004-05 SUU won two games in overtime, 82-79 and 71-70. In 2001-02 ISU won 73-71 in overtime and lost 68-51.
Idaho State is 9-12 overall and 7-5 in Big Sky Conference play. Damon Heuir leads SUU in scoring at 16.8 points a game and Jackson Stevenett is scoring 16.4 and averaging 6.2 rebounds. SUU is shooting 42.7 percent from the field and out rebounding opponents 38.2-33.1. Jayson Cheesman has a team-best 47 blocks on the season.
Idaho State concluded four straight road games last week with a 78-63 loss at Northern Colorado and a 69-52 loss at North Dakota. During the four-game stretch,
Chris Hansen led Idaho State offensively with an 11.8 points per game average.
Melvin Morgan averaged 9.8,
Andre Hatchett 9.3 and
Neveij Walters 7.3. Hansen and Walters each averaged a team-best 4.5 rebounds a game during the four games. ISU scored 56.2 points a game as a team.
Bengals vs. Vandals
Idaho State is set to play Idaho on Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in Reed Gym in the Bracketbuster game. Idaho is a former Big Sky Conference member and will rejoin the conference in two years in all sports but football. Idaho and Idaho State have played 100 times with the Vandals leading the series 58-42. This is the final year for the bracketbuster game.
Free Throws Down the Stretch
In the final two minutes of a game the Bengals are 31-40 from the free throw line and shooting .775 percent.

Shooting From Long Range
Idaho State hit 15 3-pointers in the 23 point win over Northern Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 5. The 15 3-pointers is the most since hitting 15 vs. Montana Tech in 2004. The single-game school record for most 3-pointers made in a game is 16 vs. Montana on Jan. 18, 2001.
It's a First
The Jan. 12 win at Southern Utah was the first time that Idaho State has won a game when the team trailed at halftime (28-26), was out rebounded (43-34), shot less than 40 percent (34%) from the field and less than 70 percent from the free throw line (59.3%, 16-27). The Bengals then defeated Sacramento State two games later after trailing at halftime (29-21), and being out rebounded (34-28).
