Slow Start Dooms Bengal Women in 67-48 Loss to Montana

Box Score MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana Lady Griz outscored the Idaho State Bengals 35-15 in the first half en route to a 67-48 victory on Thursday night at Dahlberg Arena.

The Bengals were 4-of-23 (17.4 percent) from the floor in the first half and had nine first half turnovers compared to just two for Montana.

The Bengals picked up the pace significantly in the second half and made 13-of-29 field goals, led by Jessica Tingey who scored all of her 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting in the second half.

Montana extend its lead to 30 at 67-37 with 4:08 remaining in the game but ISU ended the game on an 11-0 run to cut the final deficit to 67-48.

Kara Jenkins had 10 points and a game high nine rebounds for a near double-double.

Jordan Sullivan led the Lady Griz with 17 points and nine rebounds. Kellie Cole scored 11 points for Montana.

The Bengals were 17-of-52 from the field (32.7 percent) while Montana shot 25-of-65 (38.5 percent).

The Bengals and Lady Griz were nearly identical on the boards with UM grabbing 39 to Idaho State's 38.

With the loss. the Bengals fall to 5-11 overall and 3-4 in Big Sky play. Montana is now 10-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

The Bengals continue their road trip Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. against Montana State at Shroyer Gym in Bozeman, Mont.
