POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Weber State in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon at the Reed Gym tennis facility.
Weber State jumped out to a 3-0 lead after winning the doubles point 2-1and two quick matches at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
At No. 1 singles, Weber State's Agata Bachanek defeated
Marian Tangarife 6-0, 6-2. At No. 4 singles, WSU's Nittaya Phonhrath defeated Adelyn Weltzin 6-0, 6-2.
The Bengals then won three straight points to tie the match at 3-3.
At No. 2 singles
Kasey Bacon defeated Ashley Tanner 6-4, 6-3. In the No. 3 singles match
Svenja Tegtmeier defeated Kristi Elmer 7-5, 6-3 and at No. 5
Laura Theus defeated Thais Kurer 6-2, 6-2.
With the match tied at 3-3 it came down to the No. 6 match for the decision.
Idaho State's
Kaylee Fennern and WSU's Michelle Warwick battled hard in the first set but Warwick came up with the 6-4 win. In the second set Warwick caught fire and won 6-0 for the 6-4, 6-4 win.
The Bengals are 0-1 on the season while the Wildcats move to 1-0.
The Bengals host Seattle, Saturday, February 1 at 12 p.m.
