Box Score

CHENEY, Wash. –CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington started with an 11-0 lead en route to a 67-55 win against Idaho State at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash., Saturday afternoon.

After the early 11-0 run, Idaho State was able to cut the lead to six (14-8) on a steal and layup by Sheryl Bitter with 13:15 left in the half.

The Eagles extended their lead to 35-25 at the half.

The Bengals were able to slash the deficit to three with 8:33 remaining in the game before a 9-0 run by the Eagles shut the door on the Bengals comeback bid.

Lindsey Reed led the Bengals with 13 points and Jessica Tingey added 10.

Kara Jenkins had a game-high 11 rebounds for ISU to go along with eight points and five steals.

Head coach Seton Sobolewski said that Jenkins' effort was key in keeping the Bengals in the game.

"She worked really hard tonight," Sobolewski said. "She was trying to make plays to get us back in the game, and she had a lot of energy on defense and rebounding the basketball."

EWU's Hayley Hodgins led all scorers with 19 and Lexie Nelson poured in 18 for the Eagles.

The win drops Idaho State to 1-1 in Big Sky play (3-8 overall) and EWU moves to 2-1 in the conference (2-1 overall).

"Eastern Washington is such a good offensive team that when you give them that big of a cushion it is going to be hard to come back and win,"Sobolewski said. "They made a lot of shots and kept us at arm's length."

The Bengals return to Pocatello for their first game in Reed Gym since Nov. 11 when they face North Dakota on Thursday at 7 p.m.
