POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball beat Great Falls 65-40 in an exhibition game on Thursday night in Reed Gym. The Bengal defense held Great Falls to 16 percent shooting for the game (9-foor-56). Idaho State shot 43.6 percent from the field and was led in scoring by
Evann Hall's 13 points in 18 minutes off the bench.
Jeffrey Solarin had 10 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes while
Nnamdi Ezenwa had 10 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes of play.
"I think we did some good things defensively," Idaho State coach
Bill Evans. "Offensively it was about what I expected. I knew we would be in disarray offensively because we haven't spent a ton of time on it. We have spent time in transition but not tons of time in a set offense in the half court."
The Bengals had 11 players play 10 minutes or more. ISU had 45 rebounds while Great Falls finished with 42. Both teams turned the ball over 18 times.
Idaho State never trailed in the game and led by as many as 26 points with 1:05 left in the game.
Idaho State led 38-17 at halftime. Great Falls shot 4-for-33 from the field in the half while the Bengal finished the first stanza shooting 15-for-30.
"I think we played pretty well defensively," Evans said. "I don't think they got a whole bunch of open looks. I thought we contested shots but we did foul way too much."
In the final 20 minutes ISU shot 36 percent from the field (9-for-25).
Idaho State plays its final exhibition game on November 5 vs. Montana Tech in Reed Gym. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
