By Matt Gittins, ISU Sports InformationFLAGSTAFF, Arizona – The Idaho State volleyball team edged Northern Arizona 3-2 (25-27, 25-19, 25-18, 20-25 and 17-15) Thursday night at the Rolle Activity Center. It's the team's first five-set victory this season.
The win improves the Bengals' record to 10-1 in conference play and has a two-match lead on a trio of teams (North Dakota, Northern Colorado and Idaho) in second place with just five matches remaining in the regular season. They have won six straight matches and 13 of 14 overall.
ISU led the final set 11-4 before the visitors roared back to level the score at 12. The Bengals would clinch the victory on their third match point.
Idaho State hit .246 over the five sets. They improve to 12-0 in matches this season when they have an attack percentage greater than .198.
Three players finished with double-doubles.
Tressa Lyman collected 23 kills and tied a season-high with 17 digs.
Amy Sorensen posted 12 kills (season-high) and 12 digs while
Hayley Farrer dished out a career high 66 assists to go along with 16 digs.
Kylee Sessions led the defense with 19 digs while
Makenzie Filer had 17 kills, eight block assists and six digs.
ISU continues the road-trip with a match against Southern Utah Saturday evening in Cedar City.
