PORTLAND, Oregon – Another day, another straight set victory as Idaho State defeated Portland State 25-22, 25-22, and 25-17 Saturday afternoon.
The Bengals have now won seven straight matches including 21 of the last 23 sets. They improved to 4-0 in conference. It's the longest winning streak since the team won nine straight matches in 2012.
Makenzie Filer posted another effective hitting match. She totaled 10 kills on just 17 attacks (.529). It's her second consecutive match with double-digit kills and her fourth in the last six matches. She also led the team in blocks with six.
Whitney Bartschi-Harrington also reached double-figures in kills, leading the team with 11. Libero Kylee Sessions chipped in with a season-high 21 digs and three aces.
The game is the first time the two teams have met since the 2014 Big Sky Championship, a game the Bengals won to earn a trip to the NCAA tournament.
The Bengals return to Pocatello for the next four matches. They will host Northern Colorado on Friday, October 10th before welcoming North Dakota to Reed Gym Saturday October 11th.
