POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team opened their 2014-15 season with a 75 to 58 exhibition victory over Western New Mexico Saturday afternoon on the ICCU Court inside Reed Gym.

"We just have to keep working hard and get after it in practice," Head Coach Seton Sobolewski said. "We are going to get some good film out of this game which will help us know what we need to work on."

Rebecca Schrimpsher led the way with 20 points including 6-7 from behind the arc.

"She did a great job. She shot the ball extremely well," Sobolewski said. "I think that's the evidence of all of the work she's been putting in during the off-season. She is definitely a deadly shooter."

Grace Kenyon added 16 for the Bengals who shots 46.4% in the second half to pull away for the win.

"I thought she (Kenyon) did a nice job going at the basket," Sobolewski said. "She's long and tough to play against.  She finishes well of the backboard and different angles.  She's going to be a really good player. She's a pleasant surprise for us. I'll definitely admit I didn't think Grace was going to be as good she is now and I think she's only going to get better."

The Bengals turned up the defensive pressure in the second half as well, limiting WNMU to just 26.9% from the field.

ISU will play their next game at Washington State on November 16th.  They will play their next home game on November 24th against Northwest Nazarene University.
