POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State volleyball team won its 10th straight match for the first time since 1989 and for just the fifth time in school history after beating Montana 22-25, 25-22, 25-6, 24-26, 15-8. The Bengals improved 20-8 and 14-1 in Big Sky Conference play. ISU has now set a school record for consecutive road wins with eight.
"We played ok tonight," Idaho State coach
Chad Teichert said. "Montana is better than their record indicates. We did the things we had to do to win the match which was positive."
Idaho State hit .227 for the match and a high of .308 in the 25-6 third-set victory. ISU had five players hit in double-figure kills, led by
Tressa Lyman's,
Amy Sorensen and
Bailey Bars 14. Whitney Harrington finished with 13 and
Makenzie Filer added 10. Harrington finished the match with an attack percentage of .440.
Hayley Farrer had 46 assists and 10 digs. Lyman added 18 digs while
Kylee Sessions had 20 and
Alydia Fields-Grimm added 10.
Montana State hit .154 for the match and had a low of -.103 in the Bengal 25-6 set three victory. Montana dropped to 6-21 and 6-9 in Big Sky Conference play.
Idaho State plays its final regular season game on November 15 at 7 p.m. at Weber State. The Bengal then host the Idaho Central Credit Union Big Sky Conference Tournament November 20-22 at ICCU Court in Reed Gym. The Bengals will be the No. 1 seed and play at 7:30 p.m. on November 20.
