Grand Forks, N.D. – The Idaho State men's and women's tennis teams lost Big Sky Conference duels Friday at North Dakota. The Bengal men fell 5-2 while the ISU women were swept 7-0.
Jamey Swiggart and Krzysztof Stempian were the only Bengals to win their individual matches. Swiggart decidedly won the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-1 over Conner Oberle. Stempien defeated Ryan McGuigan 6-4, 6-4.
The men were swept in the doubles point.
The No. 1 ISU women's doubles team of
Marian Tangarife and Laura Theaus won their match against Stephanie Beihm and Stephanie Petsis 8-6 but that was lone victory for the Bengals.
North Dakota swept the other two doubles matches and all six singles matches for the 7-0 sweep.
The Bengal men are 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in Big Sky play while the ISU women fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in Big Sky play.
The Bengals travel to Northern Colorado for the next matches. The Bengal women meet the Bears Sunday at 2 p.m. and men play Monday at 9 a.m.
