Idaho State Goes 0-2 on First Day of the Diamond Devil Invite

Tempe, Ariz. – The Idaho State Bengals lost 7-6 to Boston College in eight innings and 12-4 to Drake in the first day of the Diamond Devil Invitational.

Dara Kolar had three RBIs on two hits, one being a homerun, in the two games to lead ISU. Terah Blackwell had two RBIs on two hits both of which were tallied against Drake.

"We did not show up to play today, " Head Coach Julie Wright said. "You cannot bring that kind of effort and expect to win at this level. Each of these young ladies needs to challenge themselves to play better."

Boston College 7, Idaho State 6
Against Boston College, the Bengals erased a 5-0 deficit to tie the game at five after six innings. ISU scored its first run on an RBI single by Micheala Taylor in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, Kolar started the scoring with a two-run home run down the left field line. Taylor added another run off an Eagle miscue and Blackwell plated Katee Wiley to tie the game at five.

After a scoreless seventh inning, Katelyn Marquez sacrificed home Taylor for the Bengals one run in the top of the eighth. The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.

Bailey Foster took the loss, pitching the final 4.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs, one being earned.

Drake 12, Idaho State 4
The Bengals led 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning when Blackwell doubled down the right-field line to drive in Kacie Burnett.

The Bulldogs then scored five runs in the second inning, one in the third, one in the fourth, and two in the fifth to lead 9-1.

The Bengals scored one run in the fifth and one in the sixth to cut the lead to 9-3 before Drake scored three runs in the top of the seventh to seal the victory. Burnett, Blackwell and Hailey Breakwell all had two hits. Jessica Tolmie took the loss, pitching 1.1 innings, allowing three hits and four runs.

The Bengals are 5-3 on the season and play Seton Hall at 2:30 p.m. and No. 4 Arizona State at 7 p.m.
