Bengals Face Hornets in the Final Road Game of 2013-14

POCATELLO, Idaho - Idaho State takes on Sacramento State in the last road game of the 2013-14 regular season, Saturday, at 3 p.m. MST at the Hornet's Nest in Sacramento.

The Bengals and Hornets are tied for fifth place in the conference standings with just three games remaining on the slate.

Lindsey Reed leads ISU in scoring at 16.7 points per game. Jessica Tingey scores 11.6 PPG and leads the Bengals with 6.8 rebounds per game.

Idaho State is tied for fifth place with Sacramento State in the Big Sky conference with a 9-8 record. ISU has an 11-15 record overall.

ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
The high-flying Hornets lead the Big Sky in points per game at 85.4. They are last in the Big Sky for scoring defense, allowing 84.4 points per game.

Six Sacramento State players average double-figures in points, led by Alle Moreno with 13.6 points per game. Margaret Huntington leads the Hornets with 7.2 rebounds per game.

Bunky Harkleroad is 17-9 in his first year at Sacramento State.

LAST MATCHUP: BENGALS SLOW DOWN HIGH-FLYING HORNETS; WIN 62-53
The Idaho State Bengals held Sacramento State, the second ranked scoring team in the country, to its lowest point total of the season en route to a 62-53 win.

The Hornets came into the game averaging 90.5 points per game but the Bengals controlled the tempo with their usual strong defense and methodical offense to limit Hornet possessions. The Idaho State strategy worked to perfection.

Lindsey Reed led all scorers with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to pace the Bengals.

Kara Jenkins joined Reed in double-figures for the Bengals with 12 points.

Fantasia Hilliard scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Sacramento State. Alle Moreno scored 11 for the Hornets.

LAST GAME: NORTHERN ARIZONA
Lindsey Reed and Rebecca Schrimpsher scored 23 points each to lead Idaho State to a 72-65 road win over Northern Arizona, Thursday Evening.

Northern Arizona jumped out to a 12-6 lead with 14:41 remaining in the first half on a layup by Erikka Banks.

The Bengals then went on an 8-2 run to tie the game at 14. After trading baskets and leads ISU took a 20-19 lead on two free throws by Reed with 8:29 remaining in the half, ISU would not trail the rest of the game.
Idaho State was 25-51 (49 percent) from the field and 9-19 (47.4 percent) from long-distance, including 7-11 (63.6 percent) in the second half.

The Lumberjacks were 23-61 (37.7 percent) from the field but just 3-17 (17.6 percent) from the three-point line.

Reed and Schrimpsher were the only Bengals to score in double-figures with 23 points each, a career-high for Schrimpsher. Jenkins led ISU with 10 rebounds.

The Big Sky's leading scorer, Amanda Frost, scored a game-high 28 points to lead NAU and Raven Anderson scored a double-double with 23 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
BIG SKY CONFERENCE PICTURE
With three games remaining in conference play, North Dakota has a one-game lead in the loss column at 14-4. Southern Utah is in second place at 12-5. Montana and Eastern Washington are tied for third with an 11-6 record. All four of the top teams have clinched a spot in the tournament.

ISU and Sacramento State are tied at fifth place with a 9-8 record. The Bengals won the first game against Sacramento State. The winner of Saturday's game can clinch a spot in the tournament with a Northern Colorado loss. Montana State is in seventh place at 8-8. Idaho State owns a tiebreaker over Montana State with the sweep over the Bobcats.

Northern Colorado is in eighth place at 8-10 and Northern Arizona is in ninth at 6-11. Both teams are still in the hunt for a spot in the tournament.

Portland State is 10th at 4-13 and Weber State rounds out the standings at 2-15. Both teams are eliminated from the tournament.

Seven teams attend the Big Sky Tournament.

SOBOLEWSKI BECOMES THE WINNINGEST COACH IN ISU HISTORY
The win over Northern Arizona was Head Coach Seton Sobolewski's 94th career victory. The win pushed Sobolewski past Jon Newlee as the winningest coach in ISU history.

Sobolewski has led Idaho State to the Big Sky tournament each year of his tenure, including 2012 when the Bengals won the conference championship to advance to the NCAA tournament.  His current record is 97-84 overall and 62-34 on Big Sky play.

REED IN THE RECORD BOOKS
With 19 points against Illinois-Chicago Lindsey Reed surpassed 1000 career points. She is just the 17th player in ISU history to join the 1000 point club. She hit the 500 career rebound mark against Black Hills State in the first game of the season.

Against Southern Utah Reed moved into the top 10 all-time in rebounds, with 658 career rebounds she is ninth in ISU History. Her 1,403 career points ranks fourth in ISU history.

TWO STARTERS RETURN FOR THE BENGALS
Kara Jenkins and Lindsey Reed return for the Bengals. Jenkins comes into the season with 580 career points and 479 career rebounds. She has played in 93 games and has 53 starts for Idaho State.

Reed has 970 career points and 492 career rebounds. She has 92 games under her belt including 89 starts in her career at ISU.
