Bengal Women's Tennis Tops Seattle 5-2

– The Idaho State women's tennis team defeated Seattle University 5-2 in Las Vegas to complete the season sweep over the Redhawks.
 
The Bengals started with a dramatic 2-1 win in the doubles point.
 
SU's Sarah Lucas and Gabriella Wiessmann defeated Marian Tangarife and Laura Theus at No. 1 and ISU's Svenja Tegtmeier and Wiebke Boeckmann defeated Kelli Woodman and Kristen James 8-6 at No. 2.
 
The No. 3 match was left to decide the point and it came down to a tiebreaker. In the end Kasey Bacon and Madelyn Weltzin defeated Anna Lambert and Corinne Wurden 8-7(7-5) to give ISU the point.
 
In the doubles competition Bacon defeated Lambert 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2. At No. 6 Theus defeated Wurden 6-2, 6-0 to give the Bengals a 3-0 advantage.
 
The Bengals needed just one more point to clinch the win and Boeckmann came through with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Weissmann at No. 5.
 
Seattle won the No. 1 and No. 4 matches to cut the lead to 4-2 but Tegtmeier defeated Barbera Ann Carey 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 to set the final score at 5-2.
 
Idaho State previously defeated Seattle 4-3 on Jan. 31. ISU is now 3-9 on the season.
 
The Bengals now play five consecutive home matches starting Saturday at 10 a.m. against the Air Force Academy.
