Bengals Earn 4-2 win at Weber State

OGDEN, Utah – Idaho State won the doubles point then three singles points to defeat Weber State, 4-2, in Big Sky Conference women's tennis action Friday.
 
Kasey Bacon and Madelyn Weltzin defeated Michelle Warwick and Ashley Tanner 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. At No. 1, Kristi Elmer and Agata Bachanek defeated Marian Tangarife and Laura Theus 8-2, leaving the No. 2 match to
 
Svenja Tegtmeier and Wiebke Boeckmann defeated Thais Kurer and Annika Karlsen, 8-5, in the rubber match to give Idaho State a 1-0 lead.
 
Weber State won two singles matches. At No. 1, Bachanek defeated Tangarife 6-1, 7-5 and Elmer won the No. 2 match when Bacon retired in the second set.
 
Weltzin defeated Kurer 7-6, 6-4 at No. 3. At No. 5, Boeckmann defeated Warwick 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 and at No. 6, Theus defeated Karlsen 6-3, 6-0. The three wins gave ISU the four points needed for the win.
The No. 3 match between Tegtmeier and Tanner was unfinished.
 
Idaho State is now 6-12 and 3-5 in Big Sky Conference play. The Bengals play the final match of the season tomorrow in Portland.
