Volleyball Heads West for Pair of Matches

ABOUT THE BENGALS

Idaho State enters the weekend on a five-match winning streak after sweeping Montana State & Weber State to open Big Sky Conference play. The Bengals have won 15 of the last 16 sets.
 
SCOUTING SACRAMENTO STATE
This will be the 38th meeting between the Bengals and the Hornets.  Sacramento State leads the overall series 27-10, but ISU has won the last five matches and eight of the last 11.  There has not been a 3-0 sweep between the two teams in the last eight matches.
 
The Hornets enter the match with a 5-12 record. They are 0-2 in Big Sky play after falling at Southern Utah and Northern Arizona last week.
 
Sacramento State has the lowest attack percentage in the Big Sky (.159). Sloan Lovett is fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.26).
 
SCOUTING PORTLAND STATE
This will be the 51st meeting between the Bengals and the Vikings.  Portland State leads the overall series 32-18.  The Vikings won both matches during the regular season in 2013 but the Bengals bounced back, sweeping PSU in the Big Sky Championship match.
 
The Vikings enter the weekend with a 2-12 record and a six match losing streak.  PSU will face Weber State Thursday before hosting ISU on Saturday.
 
Portland State is 10th in the Big Sky in attack percentage (.164). Cheyne Corrado is tied for 8th in the conference in kills per set (3.00)
 
BENGAL BITES
-The Bengals have yet to play a five-set match this season. Just one match (Nov. 23, 2013 vs Portland State) in the past 23 has gone the distance (19 straight).
 
 - After dropping their only set of the UVU tournament against UC Riverside, the Bengals responded with their most dominant win of the year, 25-10 in the next set.
 
- ISU is 12-3 in the first set of matches this season.
 
- In the eight wins this season, the Bengals are holding their opponents to a .143 attack percentage
 
-Tressa Lyman's has 997 career kills.  She would be the 11th Bengal since 1984 to reach 1,000 career kills.  Lyman has had double figure kills in every match this season but three. She had a season-high 24 kills against UC Riverside. She has four double-doubles this year.
 
-Hayley Farrer is fourth in the conference in assists with 10.46 per set. She posted a career high in assists against UC Riverside (48)
 
-Kylee Sessions is 9th in conference with 3.38 digs per set. She has posted double digits digs in 10 matches this season including reaching 20 twice.
 
- Alydia Fields-Grimm had a season high 17 digs against BYU.

- Makenzie Filer posted a season high13 kills (.444 attack percentage) and seven blocks vs Portland. She is 8th in the conference in blocks (1.06/set).
