Men's Basketball Plays at Northern Colorado on Thursday

POCATELO, Idaho- Idaho State returns to the road for games at Northern Colorado and North Dakota. The Bengals play at Northern Colorado on Thursday, January 29 at 7 p.m. and then play at North Dakota on Saturday, January 31 at 1 p.m. (MDT). Idaho State vs. Northern Colorado
Idaho State leads the series 34-19. The Bengals have won four of the last six meetings. The two teams have split the season series the last two years with each team winning on their home court. The last Bengal win in Greeley was 57-55 on Jan. 2, 2012.

Scouting the Bears
Northern Colorado is 9-9 overall and 4-3 in Big Sky Conference play. The Bears are scoring 75.8 points a game and giving up 73.3. Northern Colorado  shoots .489 percent from the field and opponents are shooting .482. Tevin Svihovec leads UNC in scoring at 12.8 points a game and Cameron Michael is scoring 11.8 points. Tim Huskisson is scoring 11.2 points.

Idaho State vs. North Dakota
North Dakota leads the series 5-1. Idaho State's only win over North Dakota was a 76-63 win in Pocatello on December 3, 2011. The Bengals are 0-3 in Grand Forks.

Scouting North Dakota
North Dakota is 6-12 and 2-5 in Big Sky Conference play. Jaron Nash leads ND in scoring at 11.9 points overall and 11.6 in conference play. Quinton Hooker is scoring 10.8 points overall but 13.4 in conference play. North Dakota is scoring 65.3 points a game and giving up 71.4 points. UND is shooting .439 percent while opponents are shooting .478 percent from the field. North Dakota averages 29.7 rebounds and gives up 34.4.

A Game of Firsts
The win over Montana State was the first time ISU has won a game this season when trailing at halftime, being out rebounded by an opponent, committing less than 10 turnovers and shooting better than 80 percent from the free throw line. The MSU win was also the first time all season the Bengals have shot 80 percent or better from the free throw line.  The loss at Northern Arizona was also the first time the Bengals had lost a game when trailing at halftime and shooting 50 percent in a game. The win over Portland State was the first time ISU has won a game when an opponent shot 40 percent or greater and it was the first Bengal win this year when giving up 70 points or more.

Hansen Putting up the Points
Chris Hansen became the 20th Bengal in ISU men's basketball history to reach the 1,000 point mark. He scored nine points vs. Bakersfield on Dec. 20 to reach the mark and he now has 1,155 points in his career. Here is where he ranks on the all-time scoring list.

-  Chris Hansen is the 18th player in Big Sky Conference history to make 200 career 3-pointers.
- Chris Hansen's 17 free throws made and attempted vs. Montana State on January 8 was the most by any Big Sky Conference player this season.
- Chris Hansen's 1,155 points ranks fifth among active players in the Big Sky Conference for points scored.
- Jeff Solarins 411 career rebounds ranks fourth amongst active players in the Big Sky Conference.
- Chris Hansen's 17 free throws was two away from tying the school record of 19 set by Willie Humes vs. NAU in 1971 and Dave Wagnon vs. Seattle in 1966.
- In the last nine seasons the most road games ISU has won in a season is five in  2005-06.
- Chris Hansen's 92 career steals ranks third amongst active players in the Big Sky Conference.
