ISU Hosts Dickinson State on Monday at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team plays its second straight home game on Monday, November 16 at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym vs. Dickinson State, an NAIA school from the North Star Athletic Association. The game can he heard live on 101.1 KEIR with Jerry Miller and Brad Bugger calling the action. To follow the game on line fans should log onto isubengals.com for live video, audio and stats. This is the final home game for ISU until December 12 when it hosts Utah Valley University. ISU plays the next five games on the road, starting November 20 at Washington State.

The Bengals enter the 2015-16 season with five returning players with Division I experience. The only returning starter is Ben Wilson.  Evan Hall, Geno Luzcando, Erik Nakken and Justin Smith are the returning Bengals with playing experience.

Spencer Nicolds and Novak Topalovic were on the team last year but redshirted while Clint Nwosuh, Ethan Telfair, Gary Chivichyan, Brandon Boyd, Ali Faruq-Bey, Stephen Lennox, Xavier Banks and Kyle Ingram will see their first Division I action as Bengals.

Idaho State vs. Dickinson State
This is the first regular season meeting between the two schools. The two teams met in an exhibition game on Nov. 4, 2013. ISU won 97-54 and Justin Smith scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and had three steals off the bench in the game.  Evann Hall is the only other Bengal on this year's roster who played in that game. He scored seven in 20 minutes of play.

Scouting  Dickinson State
Monday night's game is an exhibition game for Dickinson State but it counts for ISU. Dickinson State is 2-2 and averaging 90.8 points a game, giving up 71 and led in scoring by Julian Vasquez's 15.8 points a game. Jacob Gondrezick is averaging 13.5, Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. is netting 13 and Brandon Ruffin 12.8.

Did You Know
The last time Idaho State started a season 2-0 was during the 1995-96 season.  That year ISU beat Western Montana 89-56 and UT-Martin 89-72.
 
Idaho State vs. Non Division I Schools
The last time Idaho State lost to a non Division I team was an 86-83 overtime loss in Pocatello to BYU-Hawaii on Dec. 18, 1991. During the Joe O'Brien era, Idaho State played nine non Division 1 games and won by an average score of 75-65. Of the nine games, five were won by single digits. During the Doug Oliver era, ISU played 15 non Division I games in eight years and the Bengals won by an average score of 88.2-62.6. All but three games were won by 10 points or more. In the Bill Evans era, ISU won all five game non-Division I games by a combined score of 479-359.

Recapping Game 1 vs. Great Falls
Idaho State rallied from a 16 point deficit to beat Great Falls 78-72 in the season opener in Reed Gym. Ali Faruq-Bey scored 28 points, 25 in the second half. ISU won despite turning the ball over 20 times and shooting 39 percent from the field.
