Kacie Burnett extended her streak to 40 consecutive games reaching base safely as the Idaho State softball team fell 8-1 to San Jose State in the opening game of the Santa Clara Tournament.

ISU finished with just four hits.

"Playing to win and competing on every pitch is one of the most important things you can do at this level. We didn't do that today," Head Coach
Julie Wright said.
The Spartans jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage after two innings. They scored a run in five of their six frames at the plate.

ISU will play three more games in the tournament. They take on Seattle University Saturday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. and then face Illinois Chicago (10 a.m.) and Santa Clara (12:15 p.m.) on Sunday. All game times are listed as Mountain Time.
