2015 Spring Roster
POCATELLO, Idaho – After an 8-4 season and a 6-2 mark in Big Sky Conference play in 2014, the Idaho State football team is ready continue its momentum into 2015 and beyond. The Bengals open spring practice April 1. All practices are open to the public.
The team has 15 practices during the month of April with the final scrimmage being the Dave Kragthorpe Classic on April 25 at 12 p.m. inside Holt Arena.
As spring practice nears, Kramer is excited about the experience he has returning to the field.
"Our mindset is totally different now," Kramer said. "It is fun. It is a different rumble. We have gone from driving a low-horse power energy saving car to driving a four-wheel drive pick-up that is jacked up. We are ready to go. We consider ourselves to be one of the elite teams in the United States and our plans are to stay there."
The Bengals return nine starters on offense, with the only losses being quarterback
Justin Arias and left tackle
Jim Bagley.
Skyler Phillips has been moved to left tackle and
Thomas Vazorka is slated to start at right guard. The rest of the offensive line remains intact with
Wesley Wingrove starting at left guard,
Christian Diehm center and
Terrence Carey at right tackle.
"The front is the finest offensive front we have had here and that anybody will have in the conference," Kramer said. "Each one of those starters have their own bucket of leadership and they apply it all different ways.
Christian Diehm is a two-and a half year starter and he has been impeccable.
Skyler Phillips will slide over and play where Jimmy Bagley played at left tackle and he is the best player at all five positions. He is an NFL caliber guy and he is 19. He is a superstar headed into his junior year. Our offensive front is as good as it gets."
The quarterback position during spring will be between James Delacensarie,
Tanner Gueller and
Trae Pilster. Kramer said he will not name a starting quarterback until the end of August.
At wide receiver
CJ Hatchett has been moved to the slot position to back up
KW Williams and
Hagen Graves is set to back up
Broc Malcom as an outside receiver.
Xavier Finney and
Jakori Ford will be the one-two punch at running back.
On defense,
Hayden Stout has been moved to inside linebacker and assumes the role
Mitch Beckstead held for the last three years.
CJ Langlow is slated to start at SAM linebacker and
Kurt Karstetter at RUSH.
What has Kramer excited about the defense is the return of
Cody Sorensen and
Taison Manu at safety.
"It is great to return so many starters," Kramer said. "Having two returning safeties is like having
Justin Arias back on offense. To have Cody and Taison back for us at safety is huge for us because they are productive and they led all defensive backs in the conference in tackles. They started every game for us for almost the last two years. They know how to get aligned and get us organized."
