Bengals Take Doubles But Fall to Vandals

CHUBBUCK, Idaho- Two doubles victories were the highlight of the weekend match as Idaho State fell 5-2 to the University of Idaho Sunday at Capell Park.
 
After dropping the No. 1 doubles spot the Bengals needed to win each of the other two matchups in order to secure the point. Krzysztof Stempien and Josh Goodwin powered past their opponent 6-2 in the No. 2 spot to set up the winner take all match at No. 3
 
Cody Miller and Orin Duffin appeared destined to easily snatch the win as they led 5-4 and were serving for the match.  However, the Vandals scored quickly off Duffin's serve and led 40-15. 
 
The Bengals would not be denied as the pair won two points at the net and then Duffin ripped an ace for the match-point win.
 
The Idaho Falls native (Duffin) also picked up a win in singles defeating Sam Jankovich 6-1 and 6-1.
 
ISU will take on Sacramento State in California this Saturday.
