Women's Tennis Dominates in 1st Win

CHUBBUCK, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team dominated Eastern Washington to pick up their first victory of the season.  The Bengals won five of the six singles' matches as well as collecting two of the three doubles' matches to post the 6-1 advantage over the Eagles Sunday afternoon at Capall Park.
 
Each of the singles' match victories came in straight sets with Wiebke Boeckmann (6-1, 6-1), Madelyn Weltzin (6-2, 6-1), Marian Tangarife (6-2, 6-2) and Laura Gutierrez (6-2, 6-2) controlling their matches completely.
 
"They played really smart today," Assistant Coach Gretchen Maloney said. "We kept the opposition out of rhythm. After we won the doubles' point it fired us up for singles. They believed they could win. I am so proud of them."
 
ISU will play their next four matches away from the Gem State.  The Bengals return to play in Idaho on April 7 when they host Weber State.
