POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team beat Northern Colorado 11-1 in five innings and lost 9-8 in game 2 of the doubleheader on a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Bengals had 21 hits on the day, led by a 4-5 afternoon from
Maddy Hickman. Hickman finished with one homer and six RBIs.
Ashlyn Ames,
Micheala Taylor and
Kacie Burnett each had three hits. Eight different Bengals had hits. While
Vicky Galasso was only 2-3 on the day, one of her hits was a home run. She was walked five times and scored five runs.

Sophie Slagle went 1-1 on the day, pitching the five inning complete game win in game 1 and taking the loss in game 2. Slagle struck out two, scattered 11 hits while allowing the four runs and walking three.
Ashlyn Ames went the first 3.2 innings in game 2 and allowed six runs and nine hits.
Northern Colorado finished with 20 hits on the day, 15 coming in its game 2 victory.
"I thought we hit well enough to get two wins today but Northern Colorado hit a little better," Wright said. "We made some small mistakes that hurt us and you can't do that to a team that swings it as well as they do. We need to put a complete game together tomorrow."
Idaho State 11 Northern Colorado 1 (5)Northern Colorado jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning. ISU tied the game at one on an RBI single by Ames in the fourth inning.
Idaho State broke the game open in the top of the fifth inning by scoring 10 runs on eight hits. Burnett started the inning with a single and then with one out Galasso walked and Breakwell followed with an RBI double.
Galasso later scored on a passed ball and Hickman hit a two-run homer. Taylor had an RBI single in the inning and Lopez had a two-RBI single to center field. The final three-runs of the inning came on a three-run homer with two outs by Galasso.
Burnett, Hickman,
Katelyn Marquez and Ames all had two hits in the game.
Idaho State had 12 hits while the Bears were held to five.
Northern Colorado 9 Idaho State 8In a game that was a back-and-forth, Northern Colorado scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the Bengals eight game win streak.
ISU led 2-0 after the first inning thanks to another two-run homer by Hickman. Northern Colorado scored three runs in the bottom of the second. ISU tied the game at three in the fourth thanks to an RBI single by Taylor.
The Bears scored three in the bottom half of the inning but ISU rallied with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to take an 8-6 lead going into the seventh inning.
The fifth inning was highlighted by a two-RBI double from Hickman and Breakwell had a two-RBI double in the sixth inning.
Northern Colorado tied the game at eight in the seventh in its first two at bats and then with two outs the winning run was scored.
The series continues Saturday at 1 p.m. in Greeley, Colorado.
