POCATELLO, Idaho- After last week's win over Weber State the Idaho State men's basketball team wanted to make sure they continued the momentum into this week's home stand against Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

The Bengals did just that on Thursday night beating SUU 87-68 at ICCU Court in Holt Arena. The win ups the Bengals record to 4-3 in Big Sky Conference play and 9-10 overall while SUU dropped to 4-14 and 2-6.

"All games are big in the Big Sky," Idaho State guard Clint Nwosuh said. "We did a good job beating Weber and the point of this week was to not drop the ball. We wanted to keep it rolling. We did that today."

ISU has won three straight games for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Thursday night was also the first time the Bengals finished with five players scoring in double figures.

Ethan Telfair led ISU in scoring with 19 points and nine assists while Geno Luzcando had 16 points and six rebounds. Ben Wilson had 14 points and five rebounds, Clint Nwosuh had 13 and Gary  Chivichyan had 12.

The Bengals shot a season-best .596 percent from the field and was 10-18 from the three-point line. The .596 percent from the field was the best since shooting 63.8 percent in a win over Montana State on Feb. 16, 2013.

"We are taking good shots," Idaho State coach Bill Evans said. "I don't think we are taking bad shots."

Southern Utah shot 41.8 percent from the field and 39.3 percent in the second half. The Bengals out rebounded the T-Birds 29-28.

"I think we were up and down defensively," Evans said. "We have to be more consistent defensively then we were tonight. I don't think we rebounded the ball great."

The Bengals led for 38 of the 40 minutes and led by as many as 23 points at 65-42 with 12:08 left in the game after a Nwosuh 3-pointer.

Idaho State hosts Northern Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at ICCU Court in Holt Arena.
