POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team continues its west coast road swing as it faces No. 25 Oregon State Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in Corvallis, Ore.
SCOUTING No. 25 OREGON STATE
Oregon State returns from the 2016-17 season following a historical run to the program's first Final Four appearance in 2015-16. The Beavers picked up Pac-12 regular and tournament titles and won a school-record 32 victories in the process.
This season, Oregon State returns three-time All-Pac 12 performer Sydney Wiese as well as defensive specialist Gabriella Hanson. The Beavers opened the season with an 88-56 rout of Lamar on Nov. 11. Sophomore Katie McWilliams paced the Beavers with 29 points off 11-of-14 shooting with six boards and four assists. Wiese added 17 points, Marie Gulich 12 and Breanna Brown added 11 points and four blocks.
As a squad, the Beavers shot 60.3 percent from the field including 59.1 percent from three and 45.5 percent from the charity stripe. OSU committed 21 turnovers and out-rebounded Lamar 47-28.
The Beavers are led by Head Coach Scott Rueck who is in his seventh year.
SERIES REVIEW
Oregon State leads the series 5-1, but Idaho State claimed the last victory as the Bengals defeated the Beavers 79-73 in Corvallis on Dec. 10, 2007.
BENGALS PREVIEW
The Idaho State Bengals started the seaosn with an 82-78 loss at Santa Clara on Nov. 11. The Bengals led by as many as 17 points in the second half, but foul trouble and 48 attempted free throws by the Broncos fueled a massive comeback that upended ISU's lead. Freshman guard
Estefania Ors shined in the season opener, netting 23 points off 8-of-10 from the field including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Including Ors, four Bengals finished in double-figures while Idaho State shot 44.1 percent from the field as a team.
