Women's Tennis Falls at Boise State

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team fell 5-2 at Boise State Friday evening in the first match of a two-game swing this weekend. The match was vastly different from Feb. 6 when the two squads faced each other for the first time this season, as the Bengals picked up two wins in singles play, this time at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions.

At the No. 4 position, senior Wiebke Boeckmann defeated Boise State's Ari Paules Aldrey in three sets, 7-6, 5-7, 10-6. Boeckmann dug deep for the big tiebreaker win and her third singles victory of the season.

At the No. 5 position, senior Taylor Cole defeated BSU's Milena Toseva in the only other three-set singles match, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. This was Cole's third singles victory of the season and her second against Boise State as she bested Boise State at the No. 6 singles position on Feb. 6.

"Taylor and Wiebke both played mentally tough in tiebreakers," Head Coach Gretchen Maloney said. "Tough teams make us stronger and we are improving every match."

The Bengals face South Dakota Saturday at Boise State at 2 p.m.
