POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's tennis team lost 5-2 to the University of Idaho on Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Idaho. Idaho improved to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in Big Sky play.
Idaho won the all three doubles matches but the match between ISU's
Svenja Tegtmeier and
Kasey Bacon against Rita Bermudez and Maria Tavares came down to the final points as UI pulled out the 7-6 (7-5) victory.
"Idaho is very strong and aggressive but we battled well," Idaho State coach
Gretchen Maloney said.
In singles competition, Tegtmeier defeated Bermudez 6-1, 6-2 and
Wiebke Boeckmann beat Ana Batiri at No. 3 singles 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (10-8).
Nonie Alexandersen lost a tough 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 match while
Kasey Bacon lost her match 6-3, 6-3 and
Laura Theus lost 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
Taylor Cole lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Bengals play at Portland State on Sunday at 12 p.m. mountain time.
