POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team opened up its three-game series vs. North Dakota with a 7-0 victory in game 1 of the series in Grand Forks. The two teams will play a double header Saturday.
"It was a great win and focus playing in very cold conditions," Idaho State coach
Candi Letts said. "Sophie pitched a great game and we had plenty of offensive support in a key win. The defense also shined with some terrific plays to keep North Dakota from getting anything going. Our offense put pressure on them all game long. If we can do this game in and game out we will be in good position to have success."
Sophie Slagle upped her record to 7-6 on the season by allowing only two hits, striking out two and giving up no walks.
Idaho State scored its seven runs on nine hits.
Maddy Hickman was 2-4 with two RBIs and
Ashlyn Ames was 2-4 with one RBI.
Katelyn Marquez was 1-4 with two RBIs. Seven different Bengals had hits.
The Bengals led 3-0 after two innings. In the first inning Burnett reached on an infield single and after stealing second she was driven in by Hickman for the first run of the game.

Dara Kolar then walked to load the bases. Taylor platted the first run of the inning on a ground out and Marquez later had a two-out RBI single down the left field line.
Idaho State had a three-run fifth inning and one run in the sixth. With one out in the fifth inning Burnett reached on an error and after stealing second she scored on an RBI double by Hickman. Ames then doubled home,
