Women's Tennis Falls at Weber State

OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho State women's tennis team fell to Weber State 4-3 Tuesday afternoon at the Edman Tennis Courts in Ogden, Utah. The Bengals struggled in doubles play and were unable to secure the critical doubles point after dropping all three doubles matches.

In singles play, Idaho State (4-11, 2-5 BSC) battled, winning three-of-four matches. Senior Kasey Bacon defeated Weber State's (7-2, 13-8)  No. 1 Agata Bachanek 7-6, 6-4, and senior Wiebke Boeckmann bested Kristi Elmer 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles position. Senior Taylor Cole rounded out the singles victories for the Bengals, winning in three sets at the No. 5 position.

"This was the toughest battle we have seen so far," Head Coach Gretchen Maloney said. "All but one match went to three sets and we lost only a couple of points. WE really needed the doubles point today, but the girls played with a lot of heart."

Idaho State is back in action April 16 as it travels to Greeley, Colo. to take  on Northern Colorado at 10 a.m. Northern Colorado is currently ranked just ahead of ISU in BSC standings with a 3-6 mark in conference play.
