POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team lost a tough battle at home, dropping a 4-3 decision to visiting Montana at Reed Gym Friday afternoon.
The Bengals started off a good note, taking the first doubles match 6-1 as seniors
Wiebke Boeckmann and
Svenja Tegtmeier bested Francis Dean and Catherine Orfanos. However, the Griz responded, winning the next two doubles matches at the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles position 6-4 each to take the doubles point.
The Bengals earned split singles matches, winning at the Nos. 3, 5 and 6 positions as Boeckmann defeated Hannah Sulz 6-1, 6-0, senior
Laura Theus bested Orfanos 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and senior
Taylor Cole won 6-1, 6-3 over Stanzi Stuijt. However, the three singles wins were not enough to take the match, giving the Griz the 4-3 win.
Idaho State plays its final match of the season against visiting Sacramento State April 23 at 9 a.m. at Reed Gym.
