Softball Secures No. 3 Seed for 2016 Big Sky Conference Softball Championships Presented by Red Lion Hotels

POCATELLO, Idaho --  The Weber State softball team will host the 2016 Big Sky Conference Softball Championship presented by Red Lion® Hotels May 12-14 in Ogden, Utah after clinching the regular-season title with a 9-7 win Saturday afternoon at Montana. Sacramento State bested Portland State 6-5 to complete a three-game sweep and earn the No. 2 seed. Both Weber State and Sacramento State secured first-round byes.

Idaho State (25-21, 11-5 BSC) will be hitting the road for the conference tournament for the first time in three years after hosting the conference championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The Bengals secured the No. 3 seed with two wins over visiting Northern Colorado and will face No. 6 Portland State May 12 at 12 p.m. MST.

Montana and Southern Utah secured the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds respectively as the Griz finished up the regular season with a 27-25 overall record and a 14-7 mark in conference play while the Thunderbirds finished with a 13-38 overall record and an 8-12 conference record. Montana and SUU will face each other in the first game of the tournament May 12 at 9:30 a.m.
