Women's Hoops to Participate in 2016 Women's Cancun Challenge

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team will be part of the 2016 Women's Cancun Challenge, hosted by the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya just south of Cancun, Mexico Nov. 24-26. This is the second time the Bengals have participated in the challenge after having made the trip south during the 2011-2012 season.

Idaho State will be part of the Rivera Division, a six-team field made up of Idaho State, Davidson (Atlantic 10), Iowa (Big Ten), James Madison (Colonial), Toledo (Mid-American) and UCLA (Pac-12). This will also be a repeat trip for Iowa and James Madison as both squads will make their fourth appearance.

"We feel very fortunate to be able to go back to Cancun," Head Coach Seton Sobolewski said. "It is a wonderful opportunity for our players to experience something special and unique."

Idaho State will face James Madison at 4:30 p.m. MST on Thursday, Nov. 24, followed by a matchup with Davidson Friday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. MST. This will be the first time in program history that the Bengals have faced either JMU or Davidson.

Idaho State men's team will also be making the trip to Cancun as they face Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 22 followed by either NJIT or Georgia State on Nov. 23 in the 2016 Cancun Challenge.

"It's going to be fun to go and support our men's basketball team who will also be in Cancun," Sobolewski said.
