SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Idaho State football team lost 41-21 to Sacramento State on Saturday evening at Hornet Stadium in front of a crowd of 10,008.
The game was tied at seven after
Ty Flanagan scored on a two-yard run with 11:22 left in the second quarter. The Hornets then score the next 17 points to take a 24-7 lead early in the third quarter and never look back.
The Bengals added two third quarter touchdowns to come within 10 points at 31-21 at the end of the third quarter. Dean caught a 17-yard touchdown reception with 8:57 left in the third quarter to cut the Sac State lead to 24-14. After the Hornets countered with a touchdown the Bengals followed with another scored thanks to a
Mitch Gueller 30-yard touchdown reception with 4:48 left in the third.
The Hornets put the game away with 10 fourth quarter points.
Sacramento State had 572 yards of total offense while ISU was held to 328.
Tanner Gueller was 20-35 with two touchdowns for 244 yards.
Michael Dean caught nine balls for 128 yards and one touchdown.
Mitch Gueller caught four passes for 76 yards and one touchdown.
James Madison had 14 carries for 56 yards.
Mario Jenkins led the Bengal defense with 10 tackles.
Idaho State returns home to host Portland State on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m.
