Women's Basketball Faces Pepperdine Tuesday

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State women's basketball continues play on the road this week with a 2 p.m. MST tipoff at Pepperdine Tuesday, Nov. 21. It will be ISU's final game of the two-game road trip; the Bengals defeated UC Irvine 78-72 on Sunday, Nov. 19 in Irvine, Calif.

SCOUTING PEPPERDINE

· The Waves are off to a 2-2 start this season with wins at Long Beach State and at Nevada and losses at UC Davis and against Seattle. The Waves were picked to finish ninth in the West Coast Conference this season.

· So far this season, Pepperdine averages 71.5 points per game shooting 40.8 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from three. The Waves average 37.8 rebounds per game for a +0.3 rebounding margin, to go along with 12.5 assists per game and 8.8 steals per game.

· Two players average double-figures for the Waves, led by Yasmine Robinson-Bacote with 21.3 points per game shooting 48.3 percent from the floor. Peyton Langston also averages double-figures with 13.5 points per contest.

· Robinson-Bacote also leads the team in rebounds per game with an average of 9.0; Barbara Sitanggan ranks second with 5.5.

· Pepperdine is led by first-year Head Coach DeLisha Milton-Jones.

· SERIES REVIEW: This will be the first time since 1996 that the Bengals have faced the Waves. Pepperdine claims a 2-0 edge in the series, including a 71-65 overtime win in Pocatello on Dec. 13, 1996.

BENGAL BITES

· Idaho State is off to its best start since going 5-0 to start the season in 1997-98. The Bengals are 4-0 with wins at Seattle, at No. 25 Washington, at home against College of Idaho and at UC Irvine.
· After four games, the Bengals are averaging 80.0 points per game shooting 50.7 percent from the floor and 47.9 percent from three. ISU averages 45.5 rebounds per game with a +16.0 rebounding margin to go along with 8.0 steals per game and 2.8 blocks per game.

· Three players average double-figures for Idaho State, led by senior guard Brooke Blair with 19.3 points per game. Sophomore guard Estefania Ors averages 11 points per game while junior guard Saylair Grandon averages 10.8 points per contest.

· Four Bengals also average at least six rebounds per contest led by Tapasa with 8.5. Sophomore forward Irene Vicente averages 6.8 while junior guard Grace Kenyon averages 6.5 and Grandon averages 6.0.

· In the first four games, the Bengals have made use of their depth by playing 11 players deep. So far this season, Idaho State's bench has outscored its opponents 98-74.

· TAKING TURNS: Through the first four games, Idaho State has had a different high scorer ever game, and already the Bengals have had two players earn game-high rebounding honors and three players earn game-high assists honors.
