POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball continues play on the road as it travels to Greeley, Colo. to take on league-leading Northern Colorado Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Bank of Colorado Arena.
SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
LAST TIME OUT: UNC posted the third-best three point field goal percentage by a Big Sky team this season as the Bears sunk 14-of-23 attempts to shoot 60.9 percent from beyond-the-arc for the game. UNC's Savannah Smith scored a game-high 29 points and the Bears cruised to a 77-62 win.
The Bears currently sit atop the Big Sky standings with a 12-2 mark in conference play and a 20-5 overall record. UNC currently sits at 15th in CollegeInsider.com's mid-major top 25. Three players average double-figures for the Bears led by Savannah Smith at 16.4 per game, good for fifth in the conference. Savannah Scott averages 13.7 points per game while Courtney Smith adds 13.3 per game and a team-high 5.8 boards per game.
Northern Colorado leads the conference in five categories: scoring margin (+9.3), free throw percentage (.783), 3-point field goal percentage (.357), assists per game (18.5) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3).
UNC is led by Head Coach Kamie Ethridge who is in her third season with the program.
SERIES REVIEW
Idaho State leads the series 17-7, but Northern Colorado has won six of the last 10 meetings including three of the last five. The Bears won the last meeting 77-62 in Pocatello on Jan. 19, 2017.
BENGAL BITES
- The Bengals' five-game win streak was snapped Thursday evening with a 63-56 loss at North Dakota. ISU force UND to shoot 31.7 percent from the floor, but the Bengals lost the rebounding battle for just the second time this season as the Fighting Hawks claimed a 40-32 edge on the boards. UND converted 18-of-22 free throws, including 6-of-6 from the line in the final four minutes, to seal the win.
- Through 24 games this season, the Bengals are 14-10 with a 8-5 mark in BSC play. ISU averages 60.2 points and 41.7 rebounds per game which ranks fourth in the conference. As a squad, ISU limits its opponents to 60.6 points per contest to lead the Big Sky.
- With leading scorer Saylair Grandon out with a broken finger, Grace Kenyon leads the Bengals in scoring at 10.5 points per game. Kenyon also leads ISU in rebounding at 7.0 per game, good for ninth in the conference.
