LEWISTON, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team finished 2-1 this weekend with wins against Seattle and at Lewis-Clark State College while dropping its Big Sky opening match to in-state rival Idaho.
Vs. Seattle
The Bengals opened this weekend's play with a 4-3 victory against Seattle Friday afternoon at the LCSC Tennis Center. Idaho State rolled in doubles play, claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 3 and No. 2 doubles positions. At the No. 3 position,
Quentin Wacquez and
Francis Filipovich made quick work of Seattle's Jeremiah Kalmus and Arshak Ghazaryan 6-2. A 6-4 win by
Bjorn Scheepbouwer and
Keegan Sullivan at the No. 2 doubles position gave the doubles point to the Bengals.
In singles play, ISU earned wins at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 positions while dropping matches at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions. The Bengals' three singles wins along with the doubles point gave ISU the 4-3 win.

Vs. Idaho
Idaho State fell to Idaho 7-0 Saturday morning in its Big Sky Conference opening match. Idaho swept doubles play for the early point and shutout the Bengals as it swept singles play; Filipovich battled at the No. 4 position before falling 7-5, 6-4.

Vs. Lewis-Clark State
After falling 7-0 to Idaho in their morning match, the Bengals rebounded with a strong 7-0 victory over Lewis-Clark State College Saturday afternoon. Idaho State swept doubles play with 6-4 wins at both the No. 3 and No. 2 positions and continued on to earn the win at the No. 1 doubles position as

Josh Goodwin bested LCSC 7-6.
In singles play, Idaho State cruised through singles play, winning in two sets at all six positions.
Idaho State is back in action Saturday, Feb. 25 as it faces Northern Colorado at 10 a.m. at the tennis courts at Reed Gym.
