POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 69-61 to the University of Idaho on Thursday night in Moscow, Idaho.
Brandon Boyd led Idaho State in scoring with 19 points and three steals.
Ethan Telfair was 7-21 from the field and scored 17 points.
Novak Topalovic had 12 points and 10 rebounds. He was 4-5 shooting in 34 minutes of play.
Idaho State shot 32.2 percent from the field and was held to 25.9 percent in the first half. Idaho State 42.1 percent and out rebounded the Bengals 42-34. Idaho was 8-18 from the three-point line while the Bengals were 6-29 from beyond the arc.
Victor Sanders led Idaho with a game-high 30 points.
Idaho State led 7-3 after a 3-pointer by Telfair with three minutes into the game. The Bengals later led 9-5 after two free throws by Boyd but Idaho went on a 10-1 run to take a 15-10 lead with 7:41 left in the half.
Idaho led 30-22 at halftime and led by as many as 17 points at 62-45 with 3:58 left in the game. The Bengals then went on a 13-2 run to cut the Vandal lead to 64-58 with 1:15 left in the game after three free throws by
Balint Mocsan.
Mocsan later hit a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left in the game to cut Idaho's lead to five at 66-61 but the Vandals hit their free throws in the final seconds to seal the win,
Idaho State plays at Eastern Washington on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. mountain time.
