SCOUTING MONTANA

LAST TIME OUT: Idaho State bested Montana 61-43 in the Big Sky Conference opener, and shot over 50 percent from the floor to defeat the Griz for only the ninth time in program history and the first time since the 2012 season.

Montana has struggled this season with a 6-22 overall record and a 3-14 mark in Big Sky, but the Griz have come alive as of late as they recorded a 71-46 win over Weber State on Wednesday. The Griz average 54.8 points per game and 38.4 rebounds per game while shooting 35.1 percent from the floor.

The Griz are led by Head Coach Shannon Schweyen who is in her first year.

SERIES REVIEW

Montana leads the series 70-9 and has won eight of the last nine meetings. Earlier this season, the Bengals defeated Montana 61-43 in Pocatello on Dec. 29, 2016. It was the first time since the 2012 season that Idaho State has defeated Montana.

BENGAL BITES
  • Idaho State looks to get back on winning track after dropping its second-straight game. The Bengals fell 73-67 at Montana State Wednesday night; ISU fell behind 27-7 after the first quarter and clawed its way back to within one in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats shot 42 percent from the floor and made 8-of-12 at the charity stripe in the final 10 minutes to seal the win.
  • Through 28 games this season, the Bengals are 16-12 with a 10-7 mark in BSC play. ISU averages 61.3 points and 41.0 rebounds per game which ranks fourth in the conference. As a squad, ISU limits its opponents to 61.3 points per contest to lead the Big Sky.
  • With ISU's loss at Montana State, the Bengals will be unable to finish higher than fifth place in conference. Therefore, the Bengals are guaranteed to play Monday, March 6 in the first round of the Big Sky Conference Championships in Reno, Nev.
