POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team beat SUU 4-1 in game 3 of the series in Cedar City. Idaho State scored its four runs on 12 hits and the T-Birds were held to five hits.
Ashlyn Ames earned the win as she pitched a complete game, striking out three and walking two.
Kacie Burnett was 3-4 with two runs scored and
Haley Harrison was 3-3 with a one run scored.
"The team put it together in all phases," Idaho State coach
Candi Letts said. "Ashlyn pitched a very good game and her battery mate
Shayna Dahlen called a good game. Offensively, Kacie and Haley had a great game."
ISU led 1-0 after the first inning. With one out Burnett singled to third base and was then driven in by a double to right-center by
Emma Bordenkecher.
With ISU still clinging to a 1-0 lead after four innings, the Bengals scored two in the top of the fifth inning.
Sarah Hayes led off with a single to second base and Burnett then reached on a bunt. Bordenkecher reached on a fielder's choice and Hayes was later driven in on a sacrifice fly by Ames.
Alex Portesi then singled home Burnett for the final run of the inning.
 SUU scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the sixth inning Harrison led off with a triple to right-center and she would later be driven in on a double by
Kelsey Breer.
Idaho State hosts Weber State on Friday, April 21 and Saturday April 22 at Miller Ranch Stadium.
