About Northern Colorado
Northern Colorado is 1-1 after beating College of Idaho 41-14 and losing to Colorado 41-21. Quarterback Jacob Knipp has thrown for 440 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in two games. Running back Trae Riek has 35 carries for 130 yards and three touchdowns while receiver Alex Wesley has caught 12 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Keifer Glad and Henry Stelzner each have 13 tackles to lead the defense. Â
The Bears average 31 points a game while giving up 27.5. Northern Colorado averages 115 yards rushing, 225.5 yards passing and 340.5 yards of total offense a game. The Bears defense gives up 213.5 rushing yards, 239 passing yards and 452.5 yards of total offense.
Series vs. Northern Colorado
Idaho State leads the series 21-9. The Bengals have won three of the last four meetings. This is the first meeting between the two schools since a 46-12 Bengal win in Greeley on Oct. 25, 2014. In 2013, ISU beat the Bears 40-26 in Pocatello and in 2012 Northern Colorado beat Idaho State 52-14. In 2011, Idaho State knocked off Northern Colorado 50-20.
The Streak is Snapped
Idaho State snapped a 27 game losing streak to FBS schools last week with its 30-28 victory at Nevada of the Mountain West Conference on Sept. 16. Prior to Saturday's win the last time ISU had beaten an FBS school was 27-24 at Utah State in 2000. Since 2008, the FBS opponents Idaho State has faced are; Air Force, Nebraska, BYU, Oregon State, Washington State, Utah State, Georgia, UNLV, Colorado, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Boise State, Washington, Utah, Idaho and Nevada.
Freshman and Sophomores Make Immediate Impact
In the season opener vs. Western Oregon the freshman and sophomores accounted for 399 of the teams 431 yards of total offense. Through three games freshmen and sophomores have accounted for 278 of the teams 369 rushing yards and 575 of the teams 748 receiving yards.

James Madison was two rushing yards away from tying his career-high. He had 17 carries for 84 yards. His career high is 20 carries for 86 yards at Eastern Washington last year. His 29 yard run against Nevada was a career-long. Madison's four receptions for 40 yards was a career-best.
