POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team completed a perfect 2-0 weekend with a 5-2 win over visiting Southern Utah Sunday morning to open Big Sky Conference play. The Bengals picked up the doubles point early and won four-of-six singles matches to earn the 5-2 victory.
Idaho State (2-2, 1-0 BSC) opened doubles play with a 6-3 win at the No. 1 position as
Peter Trhac and
David Felix defeated Remus Cope and Agustin Tamagnone. Southern Utah (1-3, 0-2 BSC) responded with a 6-1 win at the No. 2 doubles position, but the Bengals closed the doubles point with a 7-5 victory at No. 3 doubles as
William Edin and
Adam Hornby defeated Pablo Guerra Nd Guy Feigin.
In singles play, Idaho State won in two sets at the Nos. 1, 2 and 5 positions. At No. 4 singles, Edin came-from-behind in three sets to defeat Tamagnone 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. Though the Bengals fell at both the No. 3 and No. 6 positions, the four singles wins along with the doubles point secured the 5-2 match win.
