POCATELLO, Idaho – Head Men's Tennis Coach Mark Rodel has announced the signings of Yohann Prinsen and Kyler Hartman for the 2019-20 season. Prinsen will join ISU tennis as a transfer and Hartman will join ISU after completing his senior year of high school.
Yohann Prinsen
Prinsen is from Waremme, Belgium, but has spent the last year at Mesa Community College. He is ranked among the top-300 players in Belgium in category one and helped his club win back-to-back Belgium championships.
He helped Mesa CC take first place in both the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference and Region I in 2018. He also guided his team to a ninth-place, national finish in the NJCCA last season. Prinsen plans on majoring in business at Idaho State University.
"I am really pleased with the signing of Yohann as he comes highly recommended by his former college coach," Rodel said.
Kyler Hartman
Hartman hails from Idaho Falls and is finishing up school at Thunder Ridge High. He is a three-sport athlete who also enjoys playing baseball and basketball.
Hartman is well known in Idaho after gathering all-area Player of Year honors in three-consecutive seasons. He finished third in the state championship as a freshman and second as a sophomore before capturing the title as a junior.
He was ranked in the top-10 of the Intermountain Section at the U12, U14 and U16 levels. He also qualified for the U.S. National Zonals Team in each of those categories.
"I couldn't be more happy to have the one of the best junior players from Idaho in the last 10 years join our team," Rodel said. "I have known Kyler and his family for more than 15 years, with his father Heath being a college-level player and his coach. Kyler has developed excellent technique and has real shot making ability. Now it is simply a matter of Kyler raising the bar through higher levels of competition, adding tools and developing sound match strategies."
