Softball Set for Five Games at UTEP

POCATELLO, Idaho-
The Idaho State softball team returns to the field Feb. 23-25 for three games against New Mexico State and two games against UTEP in El Paso, Texas.

Play begins Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. vs. New Mexico State and then at 5 p.m. against UTEP. The following day ISU plays New Mexico State at 9:30 a.m. and UTEP and 2:30 p.m. The final game is Sunday, Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. vs. New Mexico State.

New Mexico State leads the series vs. the Bengals 6-3 but this is the first meeting between the two schools since May 7, 1982. Idaho State won that game 2-1 in Pocatello.

This is the first-ever meeting between Idaho State and UTEP.  UTEP is 4-7 and plays the Bengals twice and fellow Big Sky foe Portland State three times.

A Look Back
Idaho State opened the season last week in Las Vegas going 0-5. The Bengals lost to CSUN, Long Beach State, Hawai'i, San Jose State and UNLV.

Sophomore Emma Bordenkecher led the Bengal offense by going 6-13 at the plate with two home runs, six RBIs, two doubles and three runs scored. She hit .375 in the five games.

Frankie Tago, Genesis Zamora, Makenzie VanSickle and Haley Harrison all had four hits on the weekend.

Mariah Mulcahy pitched 19 innings while Danni Ryan saw action in seven innings.

On the Road Again
Following this weekend's tournament at UTEP, Idaho State plays in tournaments at Colorado State and UC Riverside and has road games March 21 at UVU before opening at home vs. Montana at Miller Ranch Stadium.

The Bengals play a three-game series with Montana, March 24-25, and then hosts Boise State April 3. Northern Colorado then comes to Pocatello for a three-game series April 6-7.

The final two home conference series is vs. Sacramento State April 13-14 and Southern Utah April 27-28.
