POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team fell to visiting Montana State 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the Reed Gym Tennis Courts. The Bengals claimed the doubles point, but the Bobcats won four singles matches to earn the 4-3 victory.
"We have the ability to win, but we are missing the intangibles," Head Coach
Mark Rodel said. "It's disappointing; it is up to the individuals to make a change for the team."
Idaho State (3-5, 1-2 BSC) opened doubles play with a win as
Peter Trhac and
David Felix defeated Rok Sitar and Alexander Flink of Montana State (2-5, 2-0 BSC) 6-2.
Keegan Sullivan and
Francis Filipovich sealed the doubles point for the Bengals with a 6-4 win over Joaquim Espinoza and Mateus Ceolin at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Trhac defeated Flink 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, but MSU claimed the next three matches with wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 2 singles. Adam Horby kept the Bengals alive with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ceolin at No. 6 singles, but Montana State's Espinoza defeated ISU's Sullivan 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5 singles to win the match 4-3.
The Bengals continue play March 3 at BYU. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
