POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win at Seattle Sunday afternoon to win its second-straight match.
"It was a great fight today," Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "We are starting to believe, and we are getting better every match. The magic is back."
Idaho State (3-5) swept the doubles point to earn the early 1-0 lead. Seattle (3-8) responded as Kyra Jung bested
Megan Poe 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to tie the match 1-all. ISU battled, defeating Seattle at Nos. 2, 4, 6 and 1 singles.
Louise-Mare Botes started with a 7-6, 6-0 win over Hannah Gianan at No. 2 singles while
Melissa Coburn followed it up with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Kelli Woodman.
Madison Fenske continued the winning streak for ISU with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lily-Ana Kreutzer at No. 6 singles while
Huibre-Mare Botes sealed the 5-2 win with a three-set win at No. 1 singles. Botes defeated Michelle Lui 2-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Idaho State continues play March 1 at Washington State. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. MST in Pullman, Wash.
