POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team dropped two games to Colorado State on Sunday afternoon. The Bengals lost 15-6 in six innings in the first game of what was a continuation from a contest that was called due to darkness on Saturday.
ISU then lost 8-1 to the Rams in the second game.
"We improved in some areas and now have to put all three phases together," Idaho State coach
Candi Letts said. "The win vs. UVU was great in the way we came back and finished."
Emma Bordenkecher was 3-6 in the two games while
Ashlyn Ames,
Aubrey Creekmore and
Kelsey Breer all had two hits.
Ames pitched four innings and took the loss in the first game while
Mariah Mulcahy pitched five innings and took the loss in game 2.
In the 15-6 loss, ISU had 10 hits and committed two errors while the Rams scored 15 runs on 16 hits and committed two errors.
Breer had two hits in the game while
Haley Harrison had two-run homer. Bordenkecher also had two hits.
Ames pitched three innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs (only three being earned). She struck out two and walked two.
Danni Ryan pitched the final two innings and allowed nine hits, eight runs and walked five.
The Bengals trailed 12-2 after four innings but ISU scored four runs in the fifth  before the Rams added three in the sixth.
In the 8-1 loss, Mulcahy went five innings and took the loss. ISU trailed 4-1 after three innings and CSU added two runs in the fifth and sixth inning.
Idaho State was held to three hits while Colorado State had eight hits.
The Bengals are back in action March 16-18 at a tournament at UC Riverside will they will play Texas Tech, Purdue and UC Riverside.
