POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team plays its final nonconference tournament March 16-18 in a tournament at UC Riverside. The Bengals will play two games against Texas Tech, two against Purdue and one against UC Riverside.
Purdue enters the tournament with a 4-19 record. In its most recent tournament at Oklahoma State they went 2-3. Texas Tech is 16-9 while UC Riverside is 21-7 and has won six straight games going into this weekend.
Idaho State is 1-14. In last weekends tournament at Colorado State, ISU split two games against Utah Valley, winning 7-3 and losing 6-3. The Bengals lost 11-0 to St. Johns and 15-6 and 8-1 to Colorado State. In the five games in Fort Collins, Colo.,
Ashlyn Ames hit .400 with six hits, one homer and five RBIs.
Genesis Zamora hit .333 with three hits and a homer.
Mariah Mulcahy pitched the Bengals to the win over UVU.
Overall,
Makenzie VanSickle leads the ISU offense with a .361 average. She has 13 hits and has scored two runs.
Emma Bordenkecher has a .333 average with two home runs, 10 RBIs and 15 hits. Ames has a .333 average.
The Bengals are hitting .251 on the season and has tallied nine homers and 35 RBIs.
