Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team got back on the winning track in style, defeating Lewis-Clark State College 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, the Bengals swept singles play for the commanding victory.
In doubles play, Idaho State (6-9) picked up a 6-0 win early as
Huibre-Mare Botes and
Louise-Mare Botes defeated LCSC's Stephanie Buckingham and Begona Andres 6-0. However, the Warriors defeated the Bengals at both the No. 2 and NO. 3 doubles position to claim the doubles point early.
Idaho State responded, sweeping Lewis-Clark State (3-9) in singles play.
Megan Poe started things off with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, while
Madison Fenske added a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
Angela Walker continued the winning streak with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, while
Melissa Coburn finished 6-3, 6-3 to defeat Hannah Uhlenkott at No. 1 singes. The Bengals closed with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as
Kristen Newell bested Jen Roux 6-0, 6-1 and
Andrea Osborn picked up a 7-5, 7-6 win over Sophie Uhlenkott at No. 6 singles.
Idaho State returns home to host Montana on Friday, March 30 at 12 p.m. in Reed Gym.
